Heading off on a ski holiday?
Behind every good skier is a well-organised suitcase! But, it’s easy to forget some of the essentials in the excitement and anticipation of heading to the slopes.
So, we’ve put together a fool-proof packing list to ensure you have the best trip possible.
Here are the essentials and must-haves when packing for your ski holiday.
Ski Base Layers
Prepare for the weather!
The last thing you want is to have your day ruined by lack of appropriate clothing. A ski base layer, such as a long-sleeved thermal top, will help keep you warm, as well as providing extra protection.
Particularly for the keenest skiers, we recommend bringing at least three ski base layers.
Hopefully you’ve invested in a stylist ski jacket to take with you to the slopes.
A ski jacket serves many purposes – plenty of pockets for storage, warmth, as well as helping you look good.
Alternatively, to help keep baggage weight down, just wear it to the airport! You’ll be grateful for the warmth when you arrive at your ski holiday destination.
A ski jacket isn’t sufficient protection from mountainous climates!
When tearing through the snow, waterproof clothing will be a welcome companion. From waterproof trousers to gloves, ensure you’ve got everything covered.
If it’s your first-time skiing or you’re returning to the slopes after a long time, prepare to spend a lot of time falling over. This is where waterproof clothing will be essential!
It’s easy to forget the extras!
Having a checklist of essentials will help you remember everything, as you can tick them off as you pack:
- Warm hat
- Thermal tops x3
- Thick socks (multiple pairs)
- Fleeces x2
- Water bottle
Sun cream should be one of the first items in your suitcase!
If you’ve been skiing before, you’re probably all too aware of the problem of sunburnt noses. If you haven’t, you might be surprised to hear that you need to protect yourself from the sun!
Particularly for younger skiers, sunburn can really spoil the mood.
Save yourself the expensive prices at the resort and bring sun cream with you! It’s a must-have essential for the slopes.
We also recommend bringing a lip balm with a high SPF! Sunglasses wouldn’t go amiss either, particularly if you plan on heading to après-ski.
We thought we’d save the best until last!
If you own your own equipment, ensure you don’t forget it. You don’t want to waste time queuing!
Ensure you’ve remembered all these must-haves:
- Ski/snowboard boots
- Skis/ snowboard
